Travel
The wedding will take place at Minote, a rural family property in Golden Grove, New Brunswick (just outside of Saint John) near the suburban towns of Rothesay and Quispamsis. These two towns have grown into each other, and the border is almost indistinguishable so don’t be concerned if you see one location is in Rothesay and another other in Quispamsis and wonder how far apart they are. They are very close.
The city of Saint John, NB is home to one very small airport located just outside the city, close to Rothesay (where Katie grew up). The Saint John Airport is 10 minutes from the wedding ceremony location (Minote family property) and only 15 minutes from the Amsterdam Inn. This is by far your most convenient option for travel to and from the wedding if you are flying. Keep in mind that fog can be a problem when travelling in the Maritime provinces. We suggest flying in at least a day in advance.
Please make sure you make your travel arrangements in advance because Air Canada is the only airline that flies into the Saint John airport and there are only a few flights per day (all on smaller aircraft which fill up). See Taxi section below to get from the airport to your accommodations.
If you cannot get a flight into the Saint John airport or would like to start your trip with a scenic drive you can also fly into the Fredericton Airport (Air Canada only, 1-1/4 hours away – driving along a two lane highway), Moncton Airport (Air Canada, West Jet, United & Porter , 1-1/2 hours away – easy highway driving, rolling hills), and the Halifax Airport (major hub with lots of airlines, 3-1/2 hours away). Katie would be happy to suggest some stops along the way for sightseeing (see our Activities and Sightseeing Map for ideas). You can also check out our “things to do” section for ideas. Another option for our American family and friends is to fly into the Bangor, Maine International Airport (3.5 hours away). The drive from the Bangor airport has a few scenic stops along the way (Saint Andrews, New River Beach) and is a lovely drive with the exception of about 1 hour on the Maine side of the border between Bangor and Calais. This part of the drive is called “the airstrip” and can be a bit bumpy but it’s really not too bad. If you go this route you will cross into Canada at the small border towns of Calais, Maine and St. Stephen, New Brunswick.

Camping
For those that would like to camp my family would be pleased to have you stay on the family property at Lake Minote. Please note that this location is only 10-15 minutes away from Rothesay, Quispamsis and Saint John but you will certainly need the use of a car as it is a private property with nothing nearby (no shops etc). If this option is of interest to you please let Katie know and she can fill you in on all the details.
Another camping option is Rockwood Park. This is essentially Saint John’s version of Stanley Park and is right in the city of Saint John and about 15 minutes drive to the wedding ceremony area and 25 from the reception hall. It is located in a beautiful park and well worth a trip.
